The following guidelines outline the framework for participation in the Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture, ensuring fairness and transparency for all entrants.

About Entry Fees

Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture is a non-profit association established under French law (Association loi 1901) dedicated to celebrating and promoting architectural photography worldwide. All entry fees directly support the association's mission and are allocated to essential expenses including: international jury honorariums, annual publication design and printing, physical exhibitions in France and abroad, digital platform development and maintenance, administrative costs, and future programs supporting architectural photographers. We are committed to transparency in how participant contributions sustain this celebration of architectural photography.

Eligibility

The Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture is open to photographers aged 18 and above, irrespective of nationality, residency, or professional standing. Both professional and amateur photographers are welcome to participate. Employees of the organizing association, board members, jurors, and their immediate family members are ineligible to participate.

General Conditions

  • Submissions must be made through the official portal at prixpa.com, adhering to the provided instructions for upload and payment.
  • Entrants authorize the storage and processing of registration data solely for competition administration purposes, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French data protection laws.
  • Submitted works must focus on architectural photography, including but not limited to: buildings, structures, interiors, urban landscapes, architectural details, and the relationship between architecture and its environment.
  • There is no limit on the number of submissions per participant. Images previously recognized in other awards are admissible, with no restrictions on capture date, provided the photographer retains full copyright.
  • Images may be entered into multiple categories upon payment of corresponding fees.
  • Participant Responsibility: Each entrant is solely responsible for ensuring their submissions comply with applicable laws, including but not limited to copyright, privacy rights, property rights, and any permissions required for photographing private or restricted locations. The association assumes no liability for any legal issues arising from participant submissions.

How to Enter

  1. Create a complimentary account via the designated registration link on our website.
  2. Upload images or series, select appropriate categories, and include necessary titles, descriptions, and technical information.
  3. Complete payment of entry fees to receive confirmation of submission. You can pay for each photo separately or select multiple photos and pay at once. For photographers submitting many images or categories, an optional credit bundle is available in your panelโ€”helping you save on entry costs.
  4. Please note: After payment is completed, entries cannot be modified or replaced, so please verify your files carefully before submitting.

Preparing Files

  • Files must be in JPEG format, utilizing sRGB or Adobe RGB color space, 8-bit depth.
  • Minimum dimension of 2,500 pixels on the longest edge; maximum file size of 5 MB.
  • No watermarks, borders, or identifying marks permitted on submitted images.
  • Filenames restricted to letters, numbers, dashes (-), or underscores (_). Avoid special characters.
  • Post-processing and digital enhancement are permitted, provided the architectural subject remains the primary focus and integrity of the work is maintained.

Copyright and Usage Rights

Entrants retain complete copyright ownership of their submitted works. By submitting to the Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture, you grant the association a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted images solely for the following purposes:

  • Promotion and marketing of the Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture competition
  • Publication in the annual catalogue (winners and selected finalists)
  • Physical and online exhibitions organized by the association
  • Press releases, social media, and website content related to the competition
  • Educational and non-commercial purposes furthering the association's mission

All uses will include proper attribution to the photographer. Your images will never be sold, licensed to third parties, or used for commercial purposes outside the context of the association's activities. These usage rights comply with French intellectual property law and European copyright directives.

Judging

  • Evaluation is conducted anonymously by an independent international jury comprising renowned architectural photographers, architects, curators, and visual arts professionals.
  • Judging criteria include: technical excellence, creative vision, composition, effective use of light and perspective, and ability to capture the essence and emotion of architectural subjects.
  • Category outcomes are based on aggregate scores from all jury members. The overall winner is selected from category leaders through a final round of deliberation.
  • All jury decisions are final and not subject to appeal or discussion.
  • Finalists and winners will be notified via email within three weeks following the conclusion of the judging process.

Credit Bundles Available: Discounted bulk credits for multiple submissions are available in your panel, offering savings for photographers entering multiple categories or images.

All fees are in Euros (โ‚ฌ) and contribute directly to association expenses including jury compensation, annual publication production, exhibitions, platform maintenance, and future programs supporting architectural photography.

Prizes and Recognition

  • Architectural Photographer of the Year: Cash prize, official trophy, featured interview, dedicated spread in the annual publication, prominent placement in physical and virtual exhibitions.
  • Category Winners (1st Place Each Category): Interview publication, digital certificate of excellence, inclusion in the annual publication, virtual and physical exhibition inclusion.
  • Category Finalists (2nd and 3rd Place): Digital certificate, inclusion in the annual publication, virtual exhibition inclusion.
  • Honorable Mentions: Digital certificate of distinction, online publication, international recognition.

Cash prizes are disbursed in Euros (โ‚ฌ) via secure bank transfer. Recipients are responsible for any associated banking fees or applicable taxes in their country of residence. Prize amounts and recognition benefits are determined annually by the association's board.

Legal Compliance and Liability

By entering the Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture, participants confirm that:

  • They are the sole copyright holder of all submitted images or have obtained all necessary permissions and releases.
  • They have secured all required permissions for photographing private property, restricted locations, or identifiable individuals.
  • Their submissions do not infringe upon any third-party rights including copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • They accept full responsibility for any legal claims arising from their submissions.

The association reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these terms or applicable laws. Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Prix de la Photographie d'Architecture, its board members, volunteers, and partners from any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from their submissions.
